Gorski brings home the victory in Mülsen
MP Kartracing Team celebrating the win of Leonardo Gorski in OKJ with GFR
In his first race back with the team Leonardo Gorski and MP bring home the prizes in OKJ with a victory in Mülsen in the third round of Champions of the Future. Henry Domain scored one of his best results finishing P6 and with two more OK drivers in de finals the whole team is pushing towards more podiums.
The raceweek already started strong on Wednesday with five OK drivers and five OKJ drivers ready to fight. Henry Domain and Luuk Taal showed pace with times in the top twenty in a field of over 80 drivers. It wasn’t until qualifying practice that they showed their real pace with a P2 in group for Henry and P4 for Luuk. Antonio Cocchianella topped it off with a P19 overall racing from P7 on the starting grid during the heats. Meanwhile it was Leonardo who flew during practice with the second fastest time, however it didn’t result in a perfect qualifying practice with P7 in his group. Rocco Simone, new with the team placed 19th in the same group.
While Lenni Makinen and Kim Minjae had some more work to do in the heats coming from the back of the field. They made great progress, together with Frederico Mirabella who made some nice moves up the ladder. Makinen showed he belongs in the top of the charts, climbing sixteen places in his best heat, broadcasting his speed on the Henza kart. However it was Gorski who made the most out of the Henza - GFR package, after a rocky start in the first heat (11th place) he brought home point after point with P2, P4, P4 and a third place finish. Ranking him 8th going into the super heats.
Meanwhile Henry was on the same path, battling the front of the field with four second place finishes in the heats. His consistency put him in P5 for the super heats. Luuk carried his speed with him in the heats scoring three top-four finishes. Starting the super heat from the fourth row. Meanwhile Antonio was only a couple rows behind him, being in 23rd place after five heats.
After winning the super heat Henry could spot number three on the grid, fighting for the overall win. A technical issue made his final difficult and he starting dropping of the podium halfway through the race. Still a sixth place finish is one of the best for him and the team. Looking forward to the FIA Euro’s this upcoming weekend.
Leonardo was fast in the super heat but just as in his heats, but wasn’t the favorite to go for the win. A chaotic start to the final with him being forced onto the grass bowling through the field causing a red flag and restart. This time he and the rest of the field got on the way and battle after battle he moved up the timesheet. Crossing the line in second place celebrating with the team this great result in his first race back in orange. When he got promoted to first place after a time penalty for the initial winner. A cherry on top to this great weekend for Leonardo and the whole team. All eyes on Mülsen again this weekend for the FIA Euro’s, the team is ready!
